When you touch either post the meter should give you a reading. Put the red lead on the alternator post then touch each of the battery post. Never use the OHM scale if have voltage connected. Set it on a low scale, times 10 or times 100. With the batteries leads off the isolator and the alternator lead off the isolator you can now test the isolator with a OHM Meter. These are hot wires so make sure they are covered or at least that they do not contact anything metal. To test the isolator you can pull all three wires off the isolator. This way your starting battery is never getting drained when your anchored at the sand bar. I have an isolator that works great.I wired a simple selector switch (SPDT toggle type) to my in-dash voltmeter so I can check the voltage on either battery with engine off or on, a simple way to monitor each bus.Īlso, if I can make a suggestion, normally one battery is reserved for the engine only, the second battery is used for the "house" bus and powers radios, amps, lights, blender, etc. May be that a simple charging of your deep cycle battery (using an external battery charger) is all you need to do. You may have to bump the engine slightly above idle to get the alternator voltage above the isolator voltage threshold (13.3 volts on mine).Ĭheck the literature that came with your isolator, it might address the problems associated with having one battery bank drained to a low voltage level. Use a voltmeter to compare it with primary battery voltage, should be the same. common line grounding both batteries togetherīefore you spend too much time troubleshooting, do you know beyond a doubt that the isolator isn't working? Check the voltage at the second battery with the engine running. To recap these are the only things I can thing of:Ĥ. It is powered by the first( original battery) and it is connected to the amplifier which is connected to the second battery. The only other thing I can think of would be the radio power itself. and neg to the deep cycle battery but the remote turn on lead is that tiny blue wire that turns on the amp when the radio is powered on. Could this be the link enabling the 2 batteries to "see each other"? The main power is 8 gauge wire for both pos. One positive lead from AB amplifier for audio systemĬould the power for the radio be the issue? I have the remote turn on lead from the amp hooked to the head unit. One charging lead from one side of battery isolator One ground lead connecting AB amplifier for audio system One ground lead connected to first battery The only thing attached to the second battery(deep cycle): Re: My battery isolator doesn't seem to work I wanted to do this right from the beginning AND keep it cheap and simple without buying the Blue Sea Add a battery which is really what I wanted but didn't want to pay that much. It shouldn't have because the battery isolator shouldn't allow them to see each other right? Did I do something wrong or is the battery isolator not working? what can I do to check this? I discovered that the drained second deep cycle pulled my original cranking battery down. I drained the battery and put it back drained. My problem occurred last weekend when I removed my deep cycle second battery to use in my fishing boat for trolling. The original cranking battery is still hooked up with everything as from the factory. The only thing I use my second battery for is the sound system. as far as I know this should cause I problem My ground from my auxilary battery is grounded to my original cranking battery because it was the easiest way for me to ground it. The alternator charge wire goes to center post and each side post goes to each battery from the isolator. I used a battery isolator I purchased from Fleebay.

By all accounts of human logic and reason it would appear, impossible, yet God had specific planning. Years passed and Abraham’s age crept closer to 100 years old, yet the promise remained. Abraham’s life was evident of this in the promise God gave him that he would indeed have a son. Throughout the Bible it is evident time and time again that God is not only Sovereign, but He can indeed be trusted to be faithful to His Word. We may not always understand why a God-given dream or goal is taking so long, but if we rely on the Promise Giver, and not the present circumstances there rests the hope of what is to come. When he saw his brothers again he concluded, “our intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” ( Genesis 50:20). Years later Joseph would find himself ruling, second in command to Pharaoh himself in fact. As the journey would continue God had detailed steps that would still bring Joseph to that fulfilled promise, even if at times it seemed so hopeless. It would have been logical and easy for Joseph to lose heart as a literal slave hoping that such a dream could come to pass, but he relied not on his circumstances, but on the Giver of the Promise for his hope. His brothers became very jealous, and in an effort to derail that dream they took the horrific approach of literally selling him into slavery. God planted that dream both in his heart and his mind through that vision, and it became something very sacred and holy to him. Joseph in the Bible was given a literal dream from God in which he was ruling. Consider the truth of Psalm 139:16, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” He holds our days in His hands, so surrender to His timing, even when the pressures of others, or fears in your own hearts arise. There is also a specific time for Kingdom children to be born, and their births require that perfect timing. Keep in mind that if we knew all that God knows, we would agree that waiting was best in that time period. Perhaps they are coming out of a bad relationship, or perhaps there are refinements necessary within your own heart that need to occur. Perhaps your future spouse is experiencing a season necessary in order for them to become the person they will need to be in order to be a good partner. Take into consideration if you are feeling behind, especially at a time where nearly two birthdays of your life have been consumed by a Pandemic Era, that God still has a plan for your life at purposeful timing. It tends to go that when you are younger and want to pursue marriage, discouragement from those around you will arise because they feel you are too immature, yet then within a few years those same voices will become perplexed if you are not married by a certain age. Perhaps equally if not more than careers and jobs, marriage and family planning becomes another place of expectation by a certain age. Remember as well, Jesus did not begin His ministry until He was thirty, yet the season of His ministry on earth was so exact that all of human history hinges upon that specific time. Surrendering to Him and following the doors He opens may not always make sense in the present moment, but when you look in retrospect it will become clear how there was always a purpose, always a plan, and always a reason. God often uses jobs as stepping stones to the next season or chapter in a life. Many positions or jobs will lead to other opportunities, connections with others, or personal growth within, and that is nothing to discount. God has perfect timing, and when we invite Him into every corner of our lives for direction that is where and when we see this timing made fully intentional. For many, this stress can become overwhelming, but that is where we must invite God into the equation. There is an unspoken tension that in order to feel as if we are on track in life, we must have a certain title, salary, or rank in the workforce by a certain age. Especially in America, there tends to be a pressure to go, go, go, and this mentality is often applied towards careers and jobs. The Dominion garrison was quickly overwhelmed and the headquarters destroyed. After Raynor liberated them, the civilians took up improvised weapons and joined the assault on the Dominion base. Infuriated to see civilians shot on, Raynor and the Raiders moved in to free them. One of those being lined up to move off to the mine attempted an escape, and was gunned down by Dominion marines. Some of these people were marked for mine labor. Raider reinforcements deployed into the town square by drop pods, and the Raiders pushed through.Īs the rebels neared the Dominion headquarters they discovered a holding camp of civilians. They found the town mostly deserted but occupied by a strong Dominion force. Raynor and Raider marines deployed at the outskirts by a special ops dropship and continued on foot. He told his adjutant to begin the operation. The local population was already anti-Dominion and merely needed resources and leadership to take up arms. Raynor projected that taking Backwater would cripple the enemy on Mar Sara. Recent troop redeployments had left it understrength. The Raiders were on Mar Sara and chose to attack Backwater Station, the hub of Dominion activity on the planet. Shortly after the fourth anniversary of the end of the Brood War, Commander Jim Raynor decided to resume operations against the Dominion, after being provoked by a press conference by Emperor Arcturus Mengsk. We’ll cover local web development tools that focus on WordPress and other options that work for all kinds of local projects. In this section, we’ll introduce you to other software options that can do everything that MAMP does and, in many cases, a lot more. In the next section, we’ll share our top picks with you. If this is something that you’re interested in, then you may want to check out a few different options. With that in mind, there are plenty of MAMP alternatives that offer both more control over your local web development projects and easy-to-use interfaces. If you need to change any configurations that aren’t included in the panel, you’re out of luck. However, the control panel itself is pretty limited. Likewise, if you’re not comfortable using the command line, MAMP makes it easy to administrate every component of its software stack through its control panel. In practice, you can use MAMP to launch a WordPress website in a matter of minutes. The MAMP stack includes all of the components that WordPress needs, including the webserver, database, and PHP. Putting all of those downsides aside, MAMP is a good option if you plan on working on a single WordPress local development project. If you want access to other web development software, you’ll need to set it up manually, and you won’t be able to configure it using the MAMP control panel. The stack you see is the stack that you get. You can’t modify the MAMP software stack. Other local web development tools enable virtualization to compartmentalize your projects. Every MAMP website shares the same server and resources. There’s no compartmentalization between local projects. That means you can’t set up unique configurations for each local website. Unlike other local web development tools, you share the same software stack for each project. You use the same software stack for multiple projects. For example, setting up multiple local WordPress websites using MAMP requires several workarounds. By and large, MAMP isn’t optimized to help you launch numerous local projects. Launching multiple local projects is complicated. There are four significant downsides to using MAMP: However, the software is not without limitations or bugs. MAMP is a fantastic tool for working on simple web development projects. It may appear arrogant, to make television with such a vast cast of characters that unfolds so randomly, chaotically even, with no narrative signposts, no help for the viewer and a lot of jargon and military acronyms. "You want the person leaning in to the punch so it requires them to try to figure something out," he says. Sit-up TV, that's what Burns (and David Simon) do. If you want a show that you sprawl back in the couch and sort of let wash over you then this is probably not the show." But that comes with just sitting up and watching the show. HBO were worried about it - how are they going to figure out who is who, stuff like that. "Yes, there are quite a few characters," says Burns. This is something people who have watched The Wire may identify with. There are an awful lot of characters in Generation Kill, and to begin with I had no idea who was who, or what was going on. Then he got a part, playing himself, reliving it all. He was originally hired - along with a couple of the other guys who were there with him - to train the actors, make sure they got everything right, that it was all authentic. This show came along at the right time for Reyes. I'd never had what I had in the marine corps." It's mourning the loss of your unit, and your team, and your family, and your identity. Is that common? "Very common, bro, very, very common. When he left the corps a couple of years ago, he got depressed. So he found a new family with the marines. Dad left, mum shacked up with someone else, there were more kids, and Reyes was more or less forgotten. His background, he says, is typical of the men he went to war with. "They count on me because I come from a background with no stability and no family, and this is the best family I ever had and I wouldn't do anything to endanger them." Reyes talks about this, and the one fear he had - letting down his team. This is what Generation Kill is really, a bunch of guys doing their jobs, albeit in an extraordinary workplace. And he has a complaint: "How come we can't invade a cool country with, like, chicks in bikinis?" As the Humvees rumble north over the border from Kuwait, Person, charged up to the eyeballs, spews out his theories about gays, South Park and why Saddam Hussein's ill-thought-through "pussy policy" is the real reason for the conflict. Person, played by James Ransone (the equally out-of-control Ziggy in series two of The Wire), a terrifying little nut who is permanently off his head on some horrible stimulant drink called Ripped Fuel, has all the best lines. They beat us, starve us, and once in a while they let us out to attack somebody." One of the characters, Cpl Josh Ray Person, puts it nicely: "The marine corps is like America's little pit bull. That's not to say there isn't anger about the place, but it sometimes has to be self-generated, at least to start with. Most of the killing you see in Generation Kill - and you see a lot - is the first kind, the almost fair sort, because this is about the first 21 days of the war, the invasion in 2003, not the years of mess that have followed. When that starts to happen then the anger in the unit starts to build, and God help anybody who steps in front of that anger." Where it breaks down, and becomes a different type of thing is when the enemy is a bomb, or an IED, or a mine, and you're stepping on it, or it's blowing you up, and you can't retaliate. It's what warfare actually should be, in the sense that they're shooting at you, you're shooting at them. And did the experience affect Burns? "Erm. Hell, I'm the only person around here who hasn't killed someone. As so much of Generation Kill is about the taking of human life, I wonder if he too has killed, in Vietnam, perhaps. Burns - Vietnam veteran, teacher, policeman turned writer of the best television ever - is with me too, to talk about the new project. The team behind Generation Kill is David Simon and Ed Burns, creators of The Wire, the Baltimore cop show that is rarely mentioned without the word "gritty" and has caused a critical swoonathon, sometimes even called the best television ever. RecMaster: Easy Lecture Recording Software for Both Windows and Mac RecMaster | Rev Voice Recorder | Apowersoft | ġ. Let’s see the best 4 computer-only voice recorders for lecture. Voice recorders on computers mostly have superior attributes such as they charge far less than digital voice recorders, they could record external sound as well as system sound, they save files and support play-back at any time, they work in background, etc. However, by dint of exclusive convenience and versatile features, computer software surpasses real devices. However, digital voice recorders fall short due to its budget element, inconvenience to carry and battery limitations. The second way is to use voice recorders on computers to cope with academic lectures. For your information, digital voice recorders including Sony ICD-PX470, Olympus WS-853, Zoom H1 are all in good quality and delivers good performance. The first way is to use digital voice recorders for face-face public speeches. There are two correlative directions we could head to in solving the information loss. To help with this problem, we could turn to voice recorders for lecture for help. Given lectures’ cardinal trait has been a one-way-communication mode, loss of information during lectures’ addressing is naturally inevitable. Sometimes it indicates public speeches too. Before beginning your audio and/or video recording take the time to do some test runs to make sure the sound and/or lighting are good.Lecture, usually refers to a kind of teaching method most frequently seen in campuses. Artificial light fixtures and standing lights will give much more control over the lighting situation. Outside lighting is bound to change throughout the day and can give inconsistent lighting and shadows. If at all possible, it is be better to block off all natural light with thick curtains since it can be very hard to control. Using natural light from a window and/or regular room lights only will not provide the best results. Additionally, h anging up blankets and having carpets on the floor will also help absorb sound waves, creating a better recording environment. Filling the room with soft objects, such as blankets and pillows ca n help eliminate echoes. Sound bounces off walls, creating echoes. You do not want these sounds to end up in your video or audio recording. Turn off all fans, air conditioning, and other electric appliances. Limit background noise - no people chattering, no coffee maker puffing, no sirens wailing. T his will give you the best audio and least distractions. Look for a quiet room enclosed by all four walls. This option requires the most recent version of PowerPoint ( Office 365 ), unless you already have the now-retired Office Mix installed on your computer. PowerPoint: If the content of your lecture is exclusively in PowerPoint, and you would like to be able to add, delete, or edit slides after your initial recording-or perhaps change the voice-over for one slide-you may want to consider the Recording tab in PowerPoint. This is also helpful if you decide to delete selected content, or add slides with new audio, at some point in the future. Unlike Zoom, recordings with presentation software ( PowerPoint and Keynote) can be changed in small ways, like editing a typo in a slide, without losing access to the audio that you previously made. This option is best for longer recordings, or for ones that you would like to be able to refine in the future. Nishino, unable to see whether the torpedo had hit the ship, moved in closer to check it out. Two were the darkness and the torpedo’s explosion away from the ship. Fragments from the torpedo also fell on our deck.’Ī combination of three things saved the freighter and her crew. There was a huge shower accompanied by smoke and flames. The torpedo went directly beneath us, didn’t even touch the hull and continued beyond. It was too late to do more than just wait for our destiny. Seconds later, as Sinnes recalled, ‘We saw the telltale wake of a torpedo coming directly at us amidships. Fragments fell to the deck.’Ĭaptain Nishino, unsatisfied with the results of the shelling from his pitching deck, ordered a torpedo fired at 70 yards. ‘One, apparently aimed at our radio antenna, burst in the air above the stern. ‘Five shots were fired at us,’ Captain Sinnes later recalled. As crewmen began tearing the canvas covers from the lifeboats, the Japanese opened up. Moments before Samoa crossed the bow of I-17, First Mate John Lehtonen, on watch at the time, spotted a dim light from the approaching enemy sub and yelled down to the captain, ‘A submarine is attacking us!’ Captain Nels Sinnes, who had been asleep, sat bolt upright in his bunk, quickly pulled on his pants and shirt, grabbed a life jacket and yelled into the crew’s quarters for everyone to report to their lifeboat stations. Since he was allotted only one torpedo per merchant ship, Nishino decided to open the attack with his 5.5-inch deck gun and use a torpedo only if necessary. Kozo Nishino, captain of the 2,500-ton sub, ordered an attack on the American freighter Samoa, which was on her way to San Diego with a load of lumber. and I-10 off San Diego.Ībout an hour before dawn on December 18, I-17 was moving quietly along the surface 15 miles off Cape Mendocino when one of her lookouts spotted a ship approaching. The remaining five subs, assigned to locations that had been deemed less crucial, would nonetheless see the most action: I-9 off Cape Blanco, Ore. Four subs, I-19, I-15, I-25 and I-26, were ordered to the most important locations: I-19 off Los Angeles Harbor, I-15 off San Francisco Bay, I-25 off the mouth of the Columbia River and I-26 off the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the important waterway leading into and out of the port of Seattle. The nine subs were strategically located–based on prewar intelligence–to give them the best opportunity to attack the shipping lanes most commonly used by American merchantmen. With only slight differences, all had a range of approximately 15,000 miles, a surface speed of 23 1/2 knots, carried as many as 18 torpedoes, mounted a 5.5-inch deck gun, were over 355 feet long and carried a complement of 94 to 100 men. coast were all launched a year or two before the war began. The nine submarines sent to shell the U.S. After expending all of their 5.5-inch shells, they were to retire to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. As a climax to the operation, around midnight on Christmas Eve all nine subs were to shell selected U.S. Nine of the 12 subs were ordered to pursue and sink the enemy carrier, then take up positions at designated sites off the Pacific coast and begin attacking American merchant ships. On December 10, the Japanese learned that an American Lexington-class aircraft carrier was heading for the U.S. So successful was the December 7 surprise attack that for two days not a single American ship was spotted at sea.
